About us

We’ve been making theatre in Budapest since 1998. Our main approach is based on improvisation and devising.  Which is nothing new, what differentiates us is that our shows have a fairly British landscape to them; they usually embrace the emotional and the dangerous.  We don’t just want to be the funny impro clowns we want our shows to be humorous sad and moving.  We want to engage the audience actively, which is why we balance on the border of reality and fantasy audience and performer.  This is fairly unique in Hungary and we want to put these two elements in the focus and work on them which are how we worked out our plans for this autumn.

„We are the outside eyes that are looking at things on the inside.  We have brought tools from the outside and are using them on the inside.  The people in Scallabouche are a mixture of foreigners and Hungarians. This mixture is what makes us unique because of this we tend to look at events and themes in Hungary with an outside perspective and we want to develop that and exploit it.”
